The Matchcover Storyteller

You have to go back to 1972 when the name Il Fornaio first surfaces as a baking school in Italy.    A retail bakery in Milan followed in 1975 and subsequently, the name was offered to the Williams Sonoma organization in the United States for a retail bakery concept.  It was initially unsuccessful, but….

After being resold a couple of times, and eventually listed on the NASDAQ exchange, the Il Fornaio brand has become extremely successful. There appear to be 18 to 20 locations mostly in California, and catering mostly to repeat customers.

I have no idea how many different match boxes there are for this entity; different addresses may have different boxes.

The two I am showing here are from different Il Fornaio locations. Obviously, the only one I have is in my Italian restaurant album with a duplicate in an album of art on matchcovers.
