Lenny Monti’s Steak House

The. Matchcover Storyteller

There were two Lenny Montis, father and son.  Maybe more on that in a sec.

If you collect sports figures, you need this.  This is Lenny Jr., a Golden Glove and professional boxer and a rodeo cowboy.  He was born in 1938 in Hibbing, Minnesota (Bob Dylan’s hometown) and died in Phoenix, Arizona in 2022.  As a boxer, he was a welterweight only in 1958-59 with an 11-0 record, including 5 knockouts.  There’s little easily available record of his rodeo work.

Lenny Jr. opened his steak house in Phoenix in 1971.  His dad, Lenny Sr. was already Arizona-famous for his La Casa Vieja, started in 1947 and one of the oldest and most famous of Phoenix’s eateries.

When Lenny Monti’s House of Steaks closed is unclear.  The building came down in 2006 and a Family dollar replaced it..

There are at least 3 matchcovers for Lenny Monti’s House of Steaks and more for La Casa Vieja including a 30-strike feature!  I think there are also menus and maybe some other bits for you combo creators!
