The Matchcover Storyteller
“Toot & Tell”, or some variation on that name, is an oft-repeated restaurant name in America. There was one in Beloit, Wisconsin, and another in Garner, North Carolina that opened in 1946 and closed in 2021 after the owner died. I think there was another one in Defiance, Ohio and in Williamsburg down east of Cincinnati. And this one, in Corvallis, Oregon.

A couple of the others have at least some information easily found online. But for the Toot & Tell in Corvallis, the only online reference I found was an obituary reference for a woman who was once a roller-skating waitress there. So there’s that.
These were drive-in restaurants and the name derivation was the same for each: you’d drive up, toot your horn and tell them what you wanted.
You’ll forgive me if my first thought was related to farting.
