The Matchcover Storyteller
This is a 20-strike, front-strike matchcover from Starved Rock State Park in Illinois, specifically the lodge.

Starved Rock State Park was founded in 1911; the lodge & cabins were built between 1934 & 1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (very collectible matchcover category!). Both are now on the national register of historic places.
The same year that Starved Rock State Park became a national historic site, in 1960, three young women were brutally murdered in the Park. Chester Weger, the man convicted of those crimes ultimately became Illinois longest-serving inmate. He was paroled in 2020.
A 2021 documentary throws his conviction into question, and he has for more than 60 years attempted to clear his name.
Also note the 3-digit phone number, also very collectible!
That is fascinating……remember when we visited there?
