The Matchcover Storyteller
There are political matchcovers that hold various attractions to phillumenists. “Major” in the U.S. will include mostly presidential covers, but “minor” holds a wealth and depth of collecting opportunity and some interesting information.
Dallas Wade’s matchcover leads us in a bit. It’s a front-strike 20-strike matchcover from a jobber in L.A. There are also some out there that were assembled inside out.
Dallas Wade was running for South Gate, California City Council but there is no record of him having been elected or serving.

None. Ever.
He was born in 1945 and graduated South Gate High School in 1962, and that is literally all the bio on him anywhere without a much deeper, consuming search — and based on what’s next, I wonder what the point would be.
There is one sad obituary note about Dallas Wade from a classmate:
“.Dallas, you seemed so diligent in your efforts to deny accomplishment and remain untouched, yet in so doing you left a little of yourself in the hearts and minds of those touched by you.
Rest in peace – no effort required.”
Ouch!
